This is the appearance acceptance standard for cable assembly negotiated by the Cable Assembly Association and the Electronic Connection Products Committee. If there is no standard for process inspection and finished product inspection, IPC/WHMA-A-620 can be used as the inspection standard document for products alone. It specifies process control or defective products that allow repair/rework. This information suggests that it needs to be improved by statistical process control plan (refer to IPC-9191).
Although IPC/WHMA-A-620 is an industry standard, it does not cover all designs. However, it provides process standards for general products. If non-universal or special processes are used, a unique acceptance standard can be established. This unique acceptance standard should include customer requirements or promises, and should include acceptable standards for each feature. If possible, new standards or special standards for products such as cable assemblies and harnesses should be submitted to the IPC Committee for standard improvement form, so that the IPC Committee can update the version.
